- The ruling APC has dissociated itself from the protest staged at the
residence of Justice Mary Odili over the verdict on the Bayelsa
governorship election
- APC's deputy spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, accused the PDP and Governor
Wike of sponsoring the protest to tarnish the image of the APC in
Bayelsa
- Nabena said the leadership of the APC has called on the party's
supporters not to engage in violence as all legal avenues to reclaim the
mandate are already being considered
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the protest
purportedly staged by its supporters at the residence of Justice Mary
Odili, a justice of the Supreme Court.
Justice Odili gave the Supreme Court's verdict which sacked APC's David
Lyon as the governor-elect of Bayelsa state.
Following the verdict, a protest linked to APC supporters was staged at
the residence of the revered judge in Abuja.

from the protest.

Legit.ng gathers that Nabena on Tuesday, February 18, accused the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of its governors of being
responsible for the protest.
The deputy APC spokesperson claimed the PDP sponsored the protest in
order to paint his party and its supporters in a bad light.
He added that it was the PDP that has been protesting against the
judiciary by marching from one embassy to another.
Nabena also urged the judiciary to remain upright and always ensures the
will of the people and rule of law prevail
He also tackled the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike, whom he described
as the main financier of the PDP.
Nabena asked the Rivers state governor to explain his interest in the
Bayelsa governorship election just as he tasked the people of his state
to ask him how he spends their money.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a group named Lawyers in Defence of
Democracy (LDD) urged members and sympathisers of the APC to stop their
verbal attacks on Justice Mary Odili of the Supreme Court following the
loss of the party in the Bayelsa state.
APC members had allegedly singled out Justice Odili for derision days
after the apex court sacked the party as the winner of last year's
governorship election.
The Supreme Court, in its ruling, noted that the deputy governorship
candidate of the APC, Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo forged his
credentials.
Also, the APC has asked INEC to conduct a fresh governorship election in
the state. However, the party's call for a fresh poll sparked heated
reactions from Nigerians.
IGP Adamu asked to arrest Oshiomhole over Bayelsa violence
Read some of the reactions below:
Aki Godluv Stan commented on Facebook: "APC should cover their face in
shame, for not being intelligent enough to verify authentic and forged
documents while screening their candidates. I will advice them to fire
their national chairman because he is a disaster."
Isaiah Emmanuel said: "Pls what did APC screening committee do when they
screen candidates? Can someone show us their screening template.
Incompetence everywhere. How on earth did they not vet the forms and
supporting documents. Osho and his team is a disaster, a monumental
failure. Oyegun is by mile more erudite and competent. Even a primary
school cert holder will do better. They should bury their faces in
SHAME!"
Nnamdi Nwachukwu also stated: "I don’t understand oshiomole and APC
mathematics, 2/3 of 8 is 5.3333. How did they arrive at 6? 5.3333 to the
nearest whole number is 5, this is elementary maths. Why are they
trying to confuse some Nigerians cos not all Nigerians can fall for
their voodoo maths. Pdp met the 2/3 in 5 local Govts and so are duly
qualified."
